One-Point Statistics Matter in Extended Cosmologies

چکیده

The late universe contains a wealth of information about fundamental physics and gravity, wrapped up in non-Gaussian fields. To make use as much possible it is necessary to go beyond two-point statistics. Rather than going higher order N-point correlation functions, we demonstrate that the probability distribution function (PDF) spheres matter field (a one-point function) already significant amount this information. PDF dissects different density environments which are lumped together statistics, making particularly useful for probing modifications gravity or expansion history. Our approach Cataneo et. al. 2021 extends success Large Deviation Theory predicting $\Lambda$CDM these ''extended'' cosmologies. The Statistical Discrepancy between the IGM and Dark Matter Fields: One-Point Statistics

We investigate the relationship between the mass and velocity fields of the intergalactic medium (IGM) and dark matter. Although the evolution of the IGM is dynamically governed by the gravity of the underlying dark matter field, some statistical properties of the IGM inevitably decouple from those of the dark matter once the nonlinearity of the dynamical equations and the stochastic nature of ...

Filament Statistics: A Quantitative Comparison of Cold + Hot and Cold Dark Matter Cosmologies with CfA1 Data

A new class of geometric statistics for analyzing galaxy catalogs is presented. Filament statistics quantify filamentarity and planarity in large scale structure in a manner consistent with catalog visualizations. These statistics are based on sequences of spatial links which follow local high-density structures. From these link sequences we compute the discrete curvature, planarity, and torsio...

FRW-type cosmologies with adiabatic matter creation.

Some properties of cosmological models with matter creation are investigated in the framework of the Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) line element. For adiabatic matter creation, as developed by Prigogine and coworkers, we derive a simple expression relating the particle number density n and energy density ρ which holds regardless of the matter creation rate. The conditions to generate inflation...

TESTING FOR “RANDOMNESS” IN SPATIAL POINT PATTERNS, USING TEST STATISTICS BASED ON ONE-DIMENSIONAL INTER-EVENT DISTANCES

To test for “randomness” in spatial point patterns, we propose two test statistics that are obtained by “reducing” two-dimensional point patterns to the one-dimensional one. Also the exact and asymptotic distribution of these statistics are drawn.
